Hi all. I have an HP Pavillion dv9220ca, came with vista home premium. it also has HDMI output. I also have a samsung DLP TV with HDMI input. When connecting the two I have video but no audio. I've heard that those who've gone back to XP with the same setup have fixed the problem so I'm assuming it's an issue with the nvidia drivers for Vista. Has anyone heard anything regarding this? I'm holding off on going back to XP in the hopes that there's a fix or a driver update soon.
cheers,
nix

I am having the same problem
I am having the same problem with Vista Ultimate. I get video, but no audio with my HDMI port.
What is really sad is that when I called HP tech support, it took them over 45 minutes just to verify that my computer did indeed have an HDMI port.
Then they tried to tell me that HDMI did not have audio. I must say, HP tech support is very poor.
Anyway, I would love to use XP on this system. The problem is with getting drivers. My system has a webcam (DV9225US) and I cannot get it working with XP.
Does anyone have a verified webcam driver for XP?

I have the same problem with HP media notebook and Vista Home premium.
the link to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00685613&lc=en&cc=u... doesn't seem to help--it concerns no audio on an HP TV and suggests that you check the source being used to drive the HP TV.
Where is HP on this? Don't they care?
Audio with HDMI Port and Windows Vista
Finally!!
I have both audio and video coming from my HDMI port with Windows Vista on my DV9225US.
The solution is so simple that I am still getting over my headache from banging my head on the desk. lol
Simply go into CONTROL PANEL and go to the SOUND applet. RIGHT CLICK on the SPDIF interface and SET AS DEFAULT.
Done. You will now have both audio and video from your HDMI port.
It was like pulling teeth getting the info from HP, but it definitely works.
HP HDMI NO Audio When Playing Through TV
I had the same problem and searched through the HP sight for a solution. This was a frustrating problem because when I played local files on my hard drive both video and audio were working fine. It was only when I played a DVD that the audio was problematic. After attempting many different settings, I finally got one that played DVD audio.
In Control Panel open Sound.
Choose SPIDF as your default audio.
Access SPIDF properties. (This can be done by right clicking the image in the sound control panel and choosing properties.)
Once there, click on the Supported Format Tabs.
Put a check in the Microsoft WMA Audio and deselct the other choices.
Click on APPLY and then OK.
You may have to reboot, though I immediately was able to hear audio.
Good Luck
I like how my dv9870se came
I like how my dv9870se came with a booklet telling me you have to select s/pdif interface as default inorder to get sound from hdmi port...which solves most of you guy's problem....but my computer doesn't come with S/PDIF interface............WTF?
Thanx!!! Finally! :):):)

no sound through hdmi??
I had the same problem with my HP desktop, after much stress and Googling, I found there was a SPDIF cable not properly connected from the motherboard to the video card, if the video card is an external one (not built in to the motherboard) they need to have a conection between the two, check to see if there is a loose, or in my case, a connection that was never done properly, that solved mine, give it a go, good luck!
No Sound via HDMI cable
What has been said will fix your sound problem, but some ppl do not have that SPIDF option. go to cntrl panel, and open sound, and select realtek digital output as default. I had to close the media player and reopen it, some may have to restart.
Really appreciate it. Your
