Wii Music Guide

If Rock Band is about unleashing your inner rock star, then Wii Music is about unleashing your inner band geek. It's all listening skills, keeping time, and expressing yourself! For most of the game a remote (or four) and a nunchuk (ditto) will suffice, but remember that a balance board is required for the drum kit mode. Maybe Wii Music is more toy than game, but there are still things to unlock and strategies to adopt.

Reed Hastings, the CEO of Netflix, the American DVD rental company, has given a vote of confidence to web TV.

Speaking at New TeeVee Live in San Francisco, he explained how in an ideal world all TVs should have internet browsers to watch internet television. The problem is, the technology is not quite there yet.

"In terms of what you want to watch, we may be 15 per cent of the way there, but this will grow with time," explained Hastings.

"When you want to watch is covered 100 per cent, but when it comes to where you want to watch we're still limited to the laptop."

clipper's remarks: With the PS3 severely overpriced and seemingly tanking, Nintendo really has a chance to do something special with the Wii. This is such an exciting step towards a mass-market-ready living room box that lets you toggle seamlessly between TV, gaming, and the web.

That said, I'm going to wait for my iTV.

When Wii users download Opera, it will activate the "Internet Channel" on the Wii and allow them to use the game console to browse the Internet on their television. Opera via a comic strip, and Nintendo via a statement, announced that the final version of Opera for Wii will be available in March 2007. That final version, according to Nintendo, will also be free March through June, after which it will cost 500 Wii points (roughly $5) through the Wii Shop Channel. In addition to its PC and OS version, Opera is already available for portable devices via Opera Mobile for smart phones and Opera Mini for cell phones.
