For the last few months, my interest in Second Life has been waning. But recently I've been a little more active and am considering buying more land. The last I seem to remember about average land prices was back in the fall, perhaps late summer. Then, it seemed land was typically around 10L per meter. And the Linden dollar was around 300L+ per USD.

When I look around today, main grid land seems a hell of a lot more expensive. I find plots are about 17L to 25L per meter (if not more). It doesn't matter if it has a nice water view or if it's land-locked. It doesn't matter if it's a standard size (512, 1024, 2048, etc..) or a goofy size. It doesn't matter if it's a good rectangular shape or a goofy hard-to-divide-into-rectangles shape. It's all about 2-3 times more expensive that I expect.

Add to that the value of the linden seems to have gone up. So, 20L per meter today costs more US dollars than it did back in the fall/summer. And that's what I'm really interested in. At 300L per USD, 100,000L would cost about $333. At 267L per USD (today), that same 100,000L costs about $375 ($42 more).

So, my questions are: What did I miss? What happened? Why has the value of the land become so valuable?

Thanks for any insight,

Hugsy
