What is the suggested router settings?

I have not touched nor customized anything within Vista itself since the last reload. Below is average results with Vista's auto tuning off and on. I should get at least 10-12Mbps wireless (I'm literally 1 ft away from router at my desk). It used to be that well, but I don't know what slowed it down.

Specs:

Sony Vaio Centrino / Core 2 Duo / 2GB Memory
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection
Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection
Intel Driver: 11.1.0.86
Vista Ultimate (official release)
Belkin Pre-N Router: firmware version 2.01.02
Firefox 2.0.0.3 (with Tweak Network extension)

ISP:
Optimum Online: advertised 15Mbps download / 2MB upload

Router Settings:
Wireless Channel: 1 (tried 6 and 11 also, same results)
Mode: 802.11g & 802.11b
Protected Mode: On
ACK Mode: Immediate
802.11e QoS: On
Security: WPA-PSK / TKIP

These tests are for wireless about 1 foot away from my router at my desk (no cable)...

estimate = 138.22 based on packet size = 11Kbits, RTT = 80.59msec, and loss = 1.0E-6
The theoretical network limit is 138.22 Mbps
The NDT server has a 8192.0 KByte buffer which limits the throughput to 794.15 Mbps
Your PC/Workstation has a 168.0 KByte buffer which limits the throughput to 16.28 Mbps
The network based flow control limits the throughput to 13.26 Mbps

NOTE:

I reset router to default and tried the tests. They were about 10-12mbps

Once I enabled WPA-PSA/TKIP it went back down to 6MBps.

Any work around to this security overhead? I have 3 wireless computers that access via my router, in my home.
