Okay, this will be a long one, but I'll try to cover all the info.

First, the PC info:

HP Pavillion M7650n with TV tuner

Processor: Intel Viiv Core2 Duo E6300 @ 1.86GHz
Ram: 2GB

Purchased December 2006 with Windows XP (free HP Express upgrade to Vista Home Premium (32bit) when available)

I think that covers the particulars on the PC. I received my upgrade discs, both the HP Upgrade Assistant, and the Vista Premium disc, in early March, but just upgraded last weekend.

Downloaded and ran the Microsoft upgrade advisor beforehand. The only task listed was to uninstall Norton Internet Security - Done.
Ran the HP upgrade assistant, then the Vista disc, no issues.

Upon reboot, found that IE7 would not start, and Media Center would not play Live TV. At this point, those were the only two issues.

Spent 2 1/2 hours online with HP Chat support, and found that the directions for the upgrade were not complete and I still needed to run the HP upgrade assistant disc again after the upgrade. Done. Now Media Center works fine...but not IE7. I was told to reset it and IE7 worked after reset...but only one time. It must be reset after each use, or it will not start (Internet Explorer has stopped working, please wait while Windows searches for a solution...)
I can deal with IE7 not working since Firefox works most of the time, however I think it's odd that the 2 programs that didn't work are both Microsoft products.

I noticed also that everytime I brought the PC back from a blank screen, it said that it had recovered from and unexpected shutdown. So, I watched, and after 3 or 4 minutes of the screensaver (Windows Aquarium), it would lockup, show a blue screen (too quick for me to read the errors), and restart. Changed to Vista Energy screensaver, no further issues.

So, fast forward to last night. Working online in Firefox for 30 minutes or so. Open a new tab to go to the Apple sight, go to "Apple TV", click on "Take the Tour", Immediate blue screen and restart. Tried again, same result.

Last one. Microsoft support says my product key is invalid or in an incorrect format (it's not), so I can't even get the 90 free online support (PC says "Windows is activated).
Thanks for your time, I hope someone has some ideas or it's back to XP for me.
