Keeping up with social media is a daunting task. The No. 1 question I'm asked when I speak at corporate seminars and mention that I recently wrote my 7,000th Twitter entry is "How in the world do you have the time for social media?" The answer: I don't. I make time.

Here's the secret: Pick a couple of social networks -- mine are Twitter and LinkedIn -- and concentrate on those. You can't be everywhere and you don't need to be everywhere, unless you want to be like this dog chasing its tail.

Time Magazine has gone through all of the inventions of 2008, from walking chairs to spaghetti forks, and declared to best 50 of the year (and of course, a winner, which was this at-home genetic testing service by 23andMe). Many of their choices are predictable, like the Large Hadron Collider. Some are easy to overlook, like the Global Seed Vault. And others are straight-up controversial, like the baseball instant replay or the game Spore.

One thing that I have learned over the past month is how to effectively use my time. As a result of pledging a fraternity combined with midterms and various projects I have had no spare time to post on this blog or to keep up with my other affiliate marketing projects I was working on. Thankfully I have survived pledging and now I am in the process of recouping my time, and I noticed that despite today being by far my busiest day, I have gotten a massive amount of work done.

Decoration of the Thanksgiving table should be a family affair. The dilemma is; how do you decorate a table that will be filled totally with food once the meal starts. Here are some ideas based on what we do each Thanksgiving. Remember there are probably two dining room tables. One for the kids and one for the rest of the guests. Both should be decorated.
