clipper's remarks: Would be great if it would work with mySpace
...a widget engine for the desktop and the web.
I had read on another forum a few weeks ago that Myspace does not allow flash to link- the code gets changed to [allowNetworking="internal"] every single time. I tried it myself, and although the RSS and Scoreboard widgets appeared on my space, I couldn't link from them at all, no matter how I altered the code. Mind you, I'm a total n00b at that stuff! I have flash 9, BTW. A quote from another site-
"MySpace restricts the behavior of Flash embeds, limiting their ability to call external links or URLs by setting allowNetworking to internal. The files can display pictures and videos, but cannot add clickable external links to their Flash files."
Apparently this is a security measure worked out between Adobe and Myspace, and it's only implementable with flash 9. I think.
Hope this sheds some light!
Seriously, this is on the top of our minds and we push this topic internally every day. We are going through evaluations with MySpace to make sure that we have put in place the proper security measures and that we'll be able to implement the technology in a way that does not adversely impact MySpace's users.
