Google launched a service called "Shared Stuff" that's some kind of a "bookmarking and emailing favourites with friends" app. Interesting, but nothing special.
This is the site that monitors and offers info on forums covering just about anything in the world.

The next time you're at a party and somebody asks you how the BitTorrent protocol works, you could launch into an explanation about seeders, leechers and distributed systems. Or you could run to the nearest computer and fire up this Java applet which illustrates the concept perfectly.
As they say, a Java applet is worth 1000 words. If you still have their attention at the end of your demo, try this cool trick: once you have a full set of seeders, hit "+" to add another empty peer and marvel at the speed with which it fills up.
