Hi Friends:

Many of you know that my express upgrade for my new desktop is on the way from MS. Do you think that it would matter in any way if I decided to upgrade my laptop using the upgrade disk rather than my desktop?

Why would I want to do so? Well, I keep hearing that the copy of XP being upgraded will no longer be authorized for use once the upgrade is done, and, at this time, I'd rather "lose" the XP for my laptop than the XP for my desktop. At least that is what I am thinking right now.

Also, do you think that the copy of XP being upgraded will no longer be authorized for use once the upgrade is done.

Hello folks, hope you can help me. We currently have a desktop PC at home which runs Windows XP Pro. I have just bought myself a new laptop (HP Pavilion dv2000), which is also currently running XP. My new laptop however is eligible for a free upgrade to Windows Vista. I have been getting used to my new laptop over the past week and setting up my network, so that I can share media files from my desktop to my laptop (desktop PC wasn't powerful enough to do some video editing, which is why I bought the laptop). Will it be ok for me to upgrade my laptop to Vista, have my desktop running XP and still be able to share files and generally network my computers as normal?

I cant find this answer any where.

Ok I have a copy of XP Home (same copy on 2 computers 1PC, 1 Laptop) and XP x64 on a 3rd PC. I plan to buy Vista Ultimate so I can do the family licensing deal. my 2 PC's will run vista fine my old lap top with XP home on it will not run Vista (Dell 5000e)

If I buy Vista Ultimate (upgrade) will I still be able to use my old XP or will the Key become blacklisted? Or do I need to buy the “Full” version to keep my old xp keys valid.

ok so i have the full version of Windows Vista business not the upgrade and i want to upgrade to Ultimate. First off i find it kind of funny as it costs $180 CDN but the difference of buying business to ultimate the retail package is only $120 CDN, but thats besides the point. So my question is if i do the express upgrade does it upgrade only my current computer to ultimate, or the license because im planning on installing vista on my laptop in 2 weeks, so i am wondering if it upgrades my license so when i install it on my laptop will it be ultimate to, or will it be just on my desktop and for that computer only..... any help would be greatly appreciated.

As with other users I am still waiting for my "Free Upgrade" to Windows Vista from ModusLink for my Acer Laptop. I to have sent emails with no response. I had to send a copy of the reciept via email as their fax number did not work so I am not even sure if they have got it. If anyone else has had to send it by email and had a response I would like to know.

Does anyone know what the situation is with the licence? The machine the upgrade is for is an additional machine that goes with my desktop. Will the licence allow me to put Vista onto my desktop as well?
