Referral/Viral Marketing Better in SL then in RL

Fri, 2007-03-02 23:49 - Topics:

A majority of real life companies have "refer-a-friend" deals that are a very low cost way to acquire new customers. In SL, referral deals are even more effective due to the ease of communication between avatars and the viral aspect of SL. MutualWin for free aggregates the referral deals that are available and adds a new element. It encourages charities to become the "referrer", giving companies both a new method to acquire customers while helping non-profits.Questions?[Removed for spam]

If I did have a business to sell....

Hypothetically, if I had managed to build and sustain a profitable business and was now looking to flip it for whatever reason, where would I be able to find a reliable source to determine its intrinsic value, and would a RL Business Broker be able to gauge effectivly in a virtual economy, if that broker has never had any personal experience with SL? I'm no good with accounting only design so it's not something I would trust myself to do properly and was wondering if such a service already exsist within the SL community and if not would using a RL broker be worth it or is it far fetched?

Many times I find myself needing to find people to build or script something and I can't remember who does what. In other times, people ask me if I could recommend people from TSL that do good work - I usually do but I don't know all of you.So that we all have a reference for who does what in Second Life (or RL for that matter) please post your Second Life profession/business name/and contact information and a small, neutrally worded description of your services.Example:Jacob RoundelOwner of Talk Second Life (talksecondlife.com)- Specializing in business networking and consulting.- Contact me via email: admin@talksecondlife.com or in-world at Jacob Roundel.Ok, your turn.

Starting up. Some ideas.

I've been on SL for a while and I'm wanting to do more in SL than just interact lately. So I'm thinking of ways to start a business. I have tried making shapes, skins, clothes, and I'm just not that creative. So now I'm staring to think maybe just buying some land and building a mall and renting spaces. It does, however seem so very generic and "done to death." Should I bother? I have about L35k I'd be willing to spend, but of course, I'd like to get that back relatively soon. I don't want to just blow all my money, but I'm not also necessarily looking for enough income to supplement my RL.I think I kind of just want something different to do. Kind of a SL hobby if you will. What do you think?Aldar Hartunian

Rates of builders, landscapers etc

Fri, 2007-01-26 02:42 - Topics:

I need to know about the hourly rates - or other types of rates - for good craftsmen and women.I'm looking for the price of at least the following:Avatar consultantsPeople who would be able to help me and my clients build good avatars, including clothing, body, animations and skinI foresee that this will become a major skill in SL - as RL businesses move in.Builders This is more well know territory. But what does a skilled builder charge?I need builders who can build according to a schetch or a more precise design. A builder responsible for the development of the SL offices of a client should probably be able to sign up with texture artists and landscapers if that is not included in his or hers skills.Coders?I have yet to see needs that are not met by standard applications, but I have some ideas - accounting software for instance, and CRM - in world. The reason for needing such business software "in world" is that it will make it all the more easier to do things within the realm of SL, and only take to the taxman what is actually withdrawn from SL in the form of RL money. If there be any at all.... heheGuidesI may also need some Sight Seeing guides - any ideas?I don't know - but I guess clients will pay real money to go on a sight seeing tour....
