using UAC to control Shut Down button

Does anyone know whether UAC can be used on the Shut Down button?

The company I work for has just purchased a Vista Home Premium machine for use in a kiosk and although most of the stuff we want restricted can be controlled through either 'parental' controls or UAC, users are still able to shut the machine down at a moments notice.

Is there anyway to force the shut-down button to ask for the admin password?

My daughter is rebellious! Can't access computer!

Hello friends, I just recently got Vista Home Premium. I made my daughter, Debbie, an account, and set up parental controls for me. She throws a tantrum and whatnot. The bad thing is, I get back from work later than she gets back from school, and when I left for work today, I was signed out. Bad mistake. She came home, made herself an admin, made me a standard user and set parental controls on me. She refuses to tell me anything, and the thing is I need the computer for work (can't say what, it's all classified wink.gif ). I don't want to get fired, how could I fix this?

Firefox and the Mozilla Suite do not feature built-in parental controls, content filtering, pornography blocking, or website blocking features. Thanks to the extension mechanism, however, you can add these yourself. Additionally, web filtering software is available which will filter the internet for any program on your computer.

The ProCon extension for Firefox provides a content blocking mechanism. It is suitable for blocking accidental visits to objectionable sites. It is not suitable for non-accidental visits because

  • The filter is blunt, leaving many objectionable sites accessible and blocking access to non-objectionable sites
  • It is very easily disabled
  • It only affects Firefox/Seamonkey and not other applications like MSN Messenger or Internet Explorer.
