MySpace delivers video to mobile phones

MySpace users with mobile phones are about to find out if they can walk and watch TV at the same time.

On Wednesday, News Corp's online social network will make video clips from its members' pages available for viewing on mobile devices including the BlackBerry Bold, Palm Centro, Motorola Q9, LG Voyager, Nokia N95 and Samsung Instinct.

Lori Drew has been convicted of three misdemeanor counts of computer fraud in the MySpace suicide of young Megan Meiers, 13 when she hung herself.

A jury deadlocked on a fourth count of conspiracy but reduced the charges from felony to misdemeanors. Said Tina Meiers, Megan’s mother:

This morning MySpace announced their new Primetime application which brings in all of Hulu’s content and makes it accessible to the MySpace user base. This agreement also brings in an additional 150 million pages to MySpace for them to display advertisements on. This is a huge agreement for MySpace as the company has been releasing a number of new video services for users that benefits the primary content owners.

The only problem with the application as far as I can tell, is that MySpace doesn’t provide substantial promotion for Hulu from the site’s navigation bar.

Last Thursday John Battelle sat down with MySpace CEO Chris DeWolfe and Warner Music Group CEO Edgar Bronfman to discuss the future of music.

Some interesting things were said, including remarks by Bronfman that Warner will only sign new artists if they agree to give the label a cut of all possible revenue streams. But the biggest story about the talk, by far, was this: MySpace may be creating a music device.
