Hey I'm using vista home premium 32bit and I have a strange bug happening to me. I use plantronics dsp 500 usb headset and for some reason it will mute the microphone by itself. It seems to happen when I open counter-strike. Is anyone having a problem where vista randomly mutes your mic? It's troublesome to me because I often use Ventrilo to chat and it's annoying when it gets muted and I don't realize it.

Im running vista on a Toshiba Satellite A100. For a short time i had a slick drop down menu from the top of the desktop screen with various function buttons like mute, etc. It has since disappeared and i cant get it back. I haven't been able to find anything on this from Toshiba or Vista. If anyone knows that would be great. Thanks

I'm sure people have experienced this in previous versions of Windows, you talk into your headset microphone and can hear your own voice, drives me crazy. In Windows XP, I was able to go into the sound volume mixer and turn the microphone volume down, which made it possible for silencing my voice from myself yet being able to have others hear me. However I can't find anything within Vista to do such a thing. Does anyone know of any ways in which I can mute myself from myself?
