On my new Vista desktop computer I've been playing some music files in Windows Media Player, and they sound like they were recorded inside a metal pipe. I'm using the same speakers I had with my old computer, and they sounded fine. On my new computer it sounds like one of those artificial "concert hall" echo effects (which I generally avoid) has been applied by default, but I can't find anything that changes it.
I tried re-doing the speaker setup in the Media Center to make sure no effects were applied. I'm set up for two small speakers. I also checked the SRS settings in the Media Player. SRS was turned off, and it didn't sound any better when I turned it on.
I just want good clean sound with no echo effects. Any suggestions?
