Installing Media Codecs

Mon, 2007-03-12 18:49 - Topics:

I have a number of media files, mainly video, which refuse to play on Vista stating that the relevant codecs are not installed. Using a program called GSpot I can ascertain which codecs were used to create the files....yet when I download and install these relevant codecs they files still won't play and GSpot tells me that they are not installed...!!!!

Why is this happening? I have the K-Lite Codec pack installed as well as a Vista Codec pack installed, why aren't the codecs I am installing working even after I have installed them?

Types of Video Files for Media Center

What types of video files will Media Center play? I'm running Ultimate, and have a bunch of DivX and Xvid movies. How do I get them to play through Windows Media Center?

Secondly, once I get them to play there, how can I play them through the Xbox 360 on my TV? I do already have the 360 set up as a Media Extender, and it recognizes all my files. When I go to play them, it says the codec is not found.
