Hi guys/girls,

Before I went the final step and got vista ultimate, i remember reading that you could have the media center software running on the tv while using the monitor to use the pc normally (assuming the computer has enough grunt).

Now it's all working nice, except whenever media center is loaded the mouse is disabled on the monitor meaning it's impossible to use any other apps, and if anything manages to take the focus off the media center app (running on the tv) the remote (hauppauge thing run by the IR software) stops working, presumably because it doesn't know what it's supposed to be controlling?

What types of video files will Media Center play? I'm running Ultimate, and have a bunch of DivX and Xvid movies. How do I get them to play through Windows Media Center?

Secondly, once I get them to play there, how can I play them through the Xbox 360 on my TV? I do already have the 360 set up as a Media Extender, and it recognizes all my files. When I go to play them, it says the codec is not found.

I've been running Xbox Media Center Extender for MCE 2005 for some time, and have never had any issues. Then i upgraded to Vista Media Center...!

When i stream WMV movies from my Vista Media Center to my Xbox, i have problems with WMV files that do not have a square pixel aspect ratio. The Xbox ignores the pixel aspect ratio in all WMV files, so that widescreen (16x9) videos always appear as 4x3. 16x9 files with a square pixel aspect ratio do appear correctly however. The Vista PC itself plays back these files perfectly. Back when i was running MCE 2005 the Xbox DID play these files correctly also. I am aware that i can change the zoom setting for playback on the xbox, however most of my video files have a non-square pixel aspect ratio, and considering that Media Center Extender 2005 handled this automatically, i don't understand how Vista can remove this feature. I find it very annoying. It seems that Vista has lost functionality!

I have a small network at home. I have vista home premium running on one, and xp media center on another. The printer is connected to the media center computer, and Vista can see everything on the media center PC. The problem is when I try to connect to the printer I get this access denied message and I can't figure out what's wrong, can anyone help?

I was trying to us the discovery media center thing in Vista Media Center via Online Media, then under showcase I selected one of the discovery shows, I get the interface, but when trying to play a video I get an error (debug something) I basically...
