I've been getting lots of inquiries from potential vendors at the Desperation Isle Mall ever since the mall filled up, and I've decided to expand it. Everyone who's currently selling there is doing so free of rent and commission, and I don't plan to change that- but I will be charging new vendors. Thus I have some questions.
  • If you're familiar with the mall as it is now, do you have any suggestions for the nature of the expansion? The easiest thing is to just build up; add levels. But how many levels will people climb? I can also build to the sides, add another building, etc. Just want a layout that makes sense.
  • What is a reasonable weekly rent for a stall at a mall like mine? (Mature sim, kink-heavy, island traffic from 7K-11K. Note that traffic on the telehub parcel where the mall resides has gone up between 8 to 12 times since the mall went up.)
  • I've heard some places have profit sharing plans instead of flat fees. How is this handled? Special vendors? Who 'owns' the vendors?
  • Do any malls offer either/or plans? (You can either give me a cut of profits or you can pay a flat fee.)
  • Is it common to charge more for more visible spots, or those closer to the telehub drop point?

I'm sorry, with so many questions I'm starting to feel like Jo(h)n, but I really want to make the place attractive to merchants as well as visitors. Thanks for any advice!
