PANIC! Windows is now on Drive D and won't start up!

Hey guys, I was following this guide: http://apcmag.com/5023/dual_booting_xp_with_vista

Here's the deal, I have a SATA drive with Vista on it (partitioned into 2 volumes, 20 gigs for Vista on drive C and 270 gigs for everything else). I followed the instructions up to the part where you shrink the drive. Now, I have 3 drives: 100-something gigs unformatted, 100 gigs of main stuff on DRIVE C, and WINDOWS on drive D! I want to dual boot XP, but the main priority here is NOT LOSING THE STUFF that is now on drive C (it's a LOT of stuff). Now Windows won't start! I want to:

removing Vista from a Dual Boot System

I've seen a lot of the threads that tell how to dual boot XP and Vista and even the other one today that tells how to get rid of the XP Partition. But how does one get rid of the Vista Partition without hosing one's system?ThanksDavid

I just found a 10.4 gig error log

I got home today to find that my hard drive had magically filled itself up and absolutely nothing worked. I was able to find the file using WinDirStat, copy it to a spare hard drive for further analyzing and delete the original. Now this is going to sound really weird... but I have memory problems and can't remember where the file came from. The Dr. says... well the doctors say a lot of different things but the important thing (for you guys) is that something created a 10.4 gig error log in less than a day and I have no idea where it came from. I have the actual file on a backup hard drive but Notepad can't handle a 10 gig file and nothing else can handle its file type (or lack thereof.)

A podcast!

Okay this is taken from the Vista General Discussion Board which can be deleted if needed!

Okay! I listen to a lot of podcasts. I would love to hear a podcast especially for Windows Vista. Even narrowed down to this very website. I think "The Vista Forums" should create a podcast and talk about, in detail, some of the popular and interesting topics on these forums. Even share a few tips and tricks that no one has talked about. Except emails and questions and talk about them on the podcast. It would be even better if it was a vidcast! I know I would watch/listen. It could be ran by the Admins or people who have been here a long time, have tons of posts, and "know what they're talking about.

Superfetch and disk activity at start up

Sun, 2007-04-01 20:29 - Topics:

Does any one know why superfetch causes a lot of disk activities at start up? (30+ seconds on my 7200rpm hard disk)
I watched file accesses with procmon and it seems "svchost.exe -k LocalSystemNetworkRestricted" scans every file under c:\windows at vista start up and thus causes the excessive disk activity
Now I've disabled superfetch and readyboost and no longer have the sympton. I'm just curious why superfetch has to do this intolerable thing at start up. Can't it cache information rather than scan at every boot?

My Vista blocks websites

I just received my copy of vista ultimate 64 bit, installed the nforce 680I vista driver along the 8800 vista driver, configured ISP and made most of the available windows updates, that's just about what I have done with it so far.

Now the problem is that IE7 seems to be blocking me from a lot of websites: let's say I google something, and click on a result, the page won't load and the status bar display "waiting for www.thevistaforums.com".

By the way I'm writing this post on windows xp since I can't even enter this website on vista, very strange. Downloads also seems to be blocked, I was able to go on nvidia's website but when I click to download a driver, absolutely nothing occured so I had to download all the stuff I need in XP.

I heard vista has been having a lot of trouble, and for now it is better to stick with XP until Vista gets its kinks worked out.
