I heard there a patch to allow installation vista in 256 ram but is there a way to boot with 256 ram. How am i going to edit boot.wim to enable 256 installation? I have problems running it in windows but no problem in booting the setup.

Anyone, I need help on the following:

I have my desktop, with 180Gb SATA disk partition into drive C and D. Drive D being a logical drive.

I have Windows XP installed and running on drive C.

Now, I am adding Windows Vista and installed it on drive D, using the DVD boot installation.

Problem now is, if the Windows Vista DVD is in the drive (and computer is set to first boot from CD), the system directly boot to Windows Vista.

However, if the DVD is not in place, the system directly boot to Windows XP.

What's wrong? How to make it to be able to dual-boot?

I got a big problem. I have two hard disks, we will call A and B. I had XP on disk A which started having some problems (running slow) so I decided to install Vista on disk B. Everything was installed and running great with a dual boot configuration. But I hade some programs that would not work with Vista (Nero) and XP wasn’t working to well. So I decided to format disk A and reinstall XP. After it was installed I figured I would have to edit the Boot.ini to set up the dual boot again. But it’s not working, I read Vista doesn’t use the boot.ini any more and now I can’t get it to boot into Vista. I would hate to have to spend 8 hours reinstalling and customizing Vista again. If anyone has a solution it is very much appreciated.

At process of 'Expanding files..." , after about 23% , i receive this error:

"Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation. To install Windows, restart the installation"

i did restart the installation, but still get it...

I opened my boot.ini file and this notes are added:

I've just bought a Vista Ultimate 32bits version nad i'm trying to install it.

I want a installation clean, than I boot form the dvd. The dvd boot and I've the language choice. I choose. then the serial key needed. I enter. Than, it tell me which version of Vista, I choose Utlimate. And than the terms and agreements. Read.

We are now at the crucial point, just before the installation. Here is my problems.

I clean my previous partitions on the disk0. I make 2 new. One for system with 70 Go and the rest with 130GO for future data storage. Than, I click on the first partition and click on install Vista.
