I'm having real trouble sustaining a wireless connection on Vista (release build not and RC). I can connect to the internet fine when I first boot up but then something will take out the wireless connection and mean that i cannot restore internet access without rebooting. One thing that is guaranteed to floor the connection is trying to access files on other PC's on my network (all running win XP).

I have a linksys PCI wireless G card that worked fine when it was in an XP machine connected to a Belkin router/adsl modem.

The whole set up was fine until i used vista.

i am using windows vista home premium. my problem concerns internet connection sharing using the ad-hoc network. i successfully shared my internet connection through wireless network connection and created an ad-hoc network that is secured using a WEP key. One computer detects the network and inputs the WEP key of the network but the problem is that the connecting computer cannot acquire a network address. It is assigned "automatic private address" which is, as far as i know, is not the right ip for the connecting computer. the sharing computer is assignned an ip address of 192.168.0.1 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 which is the default setting for most networks.

Hi guys I recently purchased a new HP Pavilion laptop which came with Vista Home Premium and I have been having constant drop outs and connection problems with my laptop and wireless billion modem/router (BIPAC-743GE). My connection strength is never above 60% - Always on Good connection, never goes up to Very Good or Excellent - my old Laptop which had Windows XP always had Very Good and Excellent connections. It also never had drop outs.

What I mean by 'drop outs', is that after a period of time being connected to the modem/router, my laptop will disconnect (not entirely) from the modem/router and I end up with a Limited Connection (Local Only). This happens after being connected for only 2 hours or so *the time varies every now and then* When I try to disconnect from the modem/router and try to reconnect, my laptop cannot find any wireless connections until I actually restart the laptop. Also, I am using the HP Wireless Assistant which came preinstalled.

Hi to all, i currently have a problem to configure my wireless EDIMAX usb adapter, i have downloaded the software for the adapter (zydas) which is vista compatible, and is working fine. I have configured my internet connection to be shared with the wireless network, however when i plug in my wireless adapter the application starts automatically and works fine, but after a few seconds when i check my network connection the wireless adapter says 'unidentified network' and does not manage to connect with the shared internet connection. What settings can i do in order to get this adapter working fine.
