I installed vista with no problems but when I tried to restart with the dvd out of the drive I get an error that a boot file is missing or damaged. If I leave the dvd in the drive and just ignore it when it asks if I want to start from the dvd it then starts from the HD. I have tried uning the startup repair on the dvd but this does not fix the problem. I have also problems installing network printers attached to a different computer. I managed to get an Epson R1800 to work but two other printers including a HP laserjet 1600 will not. I just get an error code when I try to install the drivers.

I have vista installed on my C drive and I am trying to install XP on either a different partition or drive. I read the previous links on your forum but I can't get to first base. I tried installing XP and when it gets to the first reboot during install I get an error message Disc error press ctl alt del and a bunch of graphics on the screen. I now can't get into Vista or XP. Help.

Hello, I just got my Vista PC last week. It's a Velocity Micro Promagix E1200. It has an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, and a LITE-ON lh-18a1p DVD RW optical drive.

It's been running quite smooth, almost problem free, but just today, I went into "Computer" and saw that the DVD Drive wasn't there!

This is more important than you might think: It's the only disc drive on my PC. When I went to the device manager, it listed the device with a yellow exclaimation point. I clicked on the "find solution" button and nothing happened. No windows popped up. The blue circle next to my mouse didn't even appear.

my philips dvd rom drive isnt showing up on my computer and this is what it says on device manager: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing.
