My computer has an ASUS P5PE - VM motherboard. B4 i reinstalled my copy of windows vista due to severe problems (brang up in an earlier thread) my sound drivers worked fine. Yet now when i attempt to install my sound drivers it keeps telling me that i have the wrong OS, even though i am installing from the same cd and have the same OS. Can anyone help me with this drivers problem? I went to ASUS's website and they have no support for vista. Also my only resource from my old computer i kept on a USB was the windows folder. In it i think i found the specific .dll it adds to the computer but i dont think copying and pasting would work.

I just installed Vista Premium Home, I encountered some problems while installing it (my product code didn't work so I had to do a fresh install and I had some weird video probs, solved with the latest Nvidia drivers), anyway now my biggest problem is the fact that my sound does not work at all. Vista is unable to install my sound (Asus P5VDX-1 with onboard SoundMax ADI AD 1888). I tried to download and find all kinds of drivers without any succes!

After downloading driver setup's it does not accept the installation for not being compatible with vista and if unpack the driver files and try to update the device drivers via the hardware console it also informs me that all these drivers are not compatible with this version and simply stops!!

I have Vista clean-installed and running AOK on a 5-year-old, 933 MHZ PC, except that Vista didn't install a driver for my Creative SB-Live sound card so I have no sound. I haven't found a compatible driver on the web, and Vista is unable to...

First of all here are my computer specs

AMD Athlon 64 processor
1 gig of RAM
Radeon x1600 video card
Asus K8V-X SE mobo
SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio
running Windows Vista Ultimate

So after installing and getting all my drivers set up I figured I'd try out some games to see how they played. Well, most games are working fine, but neither Half Life 2 or Counterstrike Source have sound, and I really have no idea why. Sound works outside of those games, and it works fine for other games, so I don't know what the problem is. I also haven't been able to find anyone else who is having this problem, so any insight would really be appreciated.

When I try to use the sound recorder it gives me an error message that says "An audio recording device cannot be found." I recently upgraded to Vista from XP and recording was working on XP. Is there some driver I need to install?
