Do you leave Indexing turned on in Windows Vista? If so, how many items are indexed on your computer? Have you changed the File Types that are indexed to make your index smaller, but still able to find the file types you want? Have you moved the Index location to a secondary hard-disc drive?

is it possible to copy your windows aero style file and send it to me to run on my windows xp computer? i have an uxtheme patcher, so it should run on my comp. i just want the aero feel w/o springing for the actual OS. i also cant find a good windows aero glass theme (windows theme, windowsblinds style, anything). so if you can help, i would greatly appreciate it.

I have a RADEON X800RX Graphics Card also known as RADEON X800GT - i downloaded the Drivers aswell as the ATI Catalyst Control Center and the Aero theme still is not applied. When Windows boots in i see the TaskBar is Green Aero - and DWM is enabled but then it gets disabled straight away on bootup. I did the Registry Tweaks thats lurking about on the internet but still not working.

Seeing how hard it is to find themes for Vista, I decided to make this Topic. After searching around for quite some time, I have found some good Themes, and some bad ones.

First of all, you need to patch your UXtheme.dll if you haven't already. You can find that here, instructions are included.

When you download the theme, extract the files into C:\Windows\Resources\Themes. Right click on the desktop and go to Personalise, click on Window Colour and Appearance, then click Open classic appearance properties for more colour options. You will see that Windows Aero and Windows Vista Basic have been duplicated. Don't worry, they are the new themes. Click on them and you can change the theme as you wish.
