Start Menu

I recently change the DPI setting in the Destop Personalize options (to 98 dpi).
The shut down button disapeared, I can get the option by moving the cursor to the right edge on the start menu.
I guess I could live with that, just wondering short of going back to the default setting is there another solution to getting the button back. Thanks

Hidden Pictures

I was reinstalling Vista this evening, and a few moments after install, several pictures came up that I never paid attention to the first time I installed Vista. Guess I just didn't even notice them. But this time I did, and I now I cannot even find them. I remeber one was call "1920" or 1020s". It was a black & white picture of a woman. I think she was wearing a skirt. I also saw other neat shots, but like her's, I cannot find them either. I guess they're a;; in one folder somewhere. I believe these are factory Vista pictures that are just well hidden somewhere. Anyone know what pictures I'm referring to, and where they're located at? Thanks!

chkdsk not fixing errors

Sat, 2007-04-21 12:57 - Topics:

Hi,

i've been having some problems with windows, so i decided to run chkdsk from cmd. It told me that i had errors that needed to be fixed with chkdsk/f, so i did that, rebooted, it ran through its checks, booted, all seemed well. i ran chkdsk again from cmd, it started deleting a load of 'index files' (think thats what it was, index something), and then said there were errors and it needed to do chkdsk/f. i repeated this twice more, and it still said do chkdsk/f.

i then tried right clicking my XP volume, going to properties, and doing error checking through the tools tab. i guess this is the same as chkdsk, but hey. after that it said i needed to reboot (well well!) and so it did, and did a chkdsk before booting, but this time it had 5 steps instead of 3, and on step 4 it took AGES.. after that i went to bed.

Hi everyone,

I was just looking through the forum rules and guess what? I saw that a rule was skipped, 12 to be exact.

There is no 12 at all, it just goes from 11 to 13. tongue.gif

Resize vista partition and driver letter confusion

Mon, 2007-03-26 19:45 - Topics:

Okay... I've got two issues both concerning my hard drives. First of all, they are 2X 250GB in raid-0, but they look like one logical drive to everything else so I guess that doesn't really matter.

Anyway, I've got them partitioned 50/50 with xp/vista and I want to shift the space around a bit, taking it away from XP and adding it to vista.

In the past I've used norton partition magic to resize my XP partion and play around with storange partitions. It worked fine for creating a partition for vista too but whenever I would try to resize the vista partition using partition magic it would cause vista not to boot saying files are missing. That happened twice to me and it was with beta versions both times.
