I have a Toshiba e740 PDA that runs PocketPC2002 - how can I sync this in Vista? In fact, I guess syncing it isn't quite as important as restoring it. Recently my PDA's battery took a dump and therefore all my contents did too... so now I need to either A) reinstall all the programs (somehow) or cool.gif restore a backup I have... (again - somehow)...

Activesync no longer works in Vista - if you try to install it, it tells you "Sorry you can't install that on this operating system" and redirects you to Windows Mobile, which I have (version 6 - latest) however, it does not connect to my PDA. Device manager see's the e740 and the drivers are installed for it - shows up under "Mobile Devices" tree and has the specific title of "TOSHIBA Pocket PC e740"... I believe in previous versions of Vista, I could at least see the e740 from within "My Computer" but even that doesn't work now. And besides, getting it to the point of seeing it in "My Computer" is useless as I want to restore a backup created by ActiveSync, OR have another way to actually install programs on it still....

It's my understanding that Windows Mobile Device Center only accepts PocketPC2003 and windows mobile platforms... how and why did MS cut off 2002 devices?? Do they not think anyone uses them still? I know three people that still have this exact PDA - two are planning to upgrade and are holding off until "I" can figure this out... the other already got disgusted with Vista's incompatibilities and monopolies (DRM, etc) and has removed it...

Anyone have a solution or suggestion? Thanks!
