While the next iteration of the ubiquitous Microsoft desktop operating system, Windows 7, isn't a dramatic overhaul of its predecessor Windows Vista, it does fix several sore spots and add a few welcome features. Rumor has it that Windows 7 will drop in the middle of next year, but last month Microsoft released a "preview" tester build of Windows 7. After living in the Windows 7 Preview for a week now, several features and niceties jumped out at me which promise to make Windows a better place to work come 2009. Let's take a look.

Opinion – As long as we can remember, Apple has always been viewed as being much more creative and innovative than Microsoft. If there was a new feature in Windows, you could bet that the comparison with Apple would follow almost immediately – and allegations that Microsoft simply copied what Apple had already. There is an ongoing argument, even if many Mac OS X "innovations" are borrowed from the open-source community. Expose windows manager? Borrowed from a long list of Linux UI add-ons. Spaces?

Here is a confession: I am getting pretty tired of netbooks running Windows XP. So when we got our Windows 7 Beta disc at PDC earlier this week, I couldn’t wait to get it running on a netbook.

I recently bought a copy of windows vista basic, however, it doesn't work well with my computer. I had way to many compatiblity problems. I also didn't like the features of vista. I seem to have more features with my windows xp. I couldn't even get windows moviemaker to work with in vista. I used the vista upgrade tool to check my computer, everything got good marks. I'm using a emachines T5026 from 05'. it has a 3.06 Ghz processor with 1GB Ram. it doesn't have a dedicated video card, it has an intricated card on the mother board, so this was probally some of my problem. Any ways, I reinstalled windows xp service pack 2 and eveything is back to normal. Here's my question. can I sell this copy of windows vista basic ? I did register it with microsoft. I was told by someone at Best Buy that I may be able to sell this copy after reinstalling windows xp. I hope I can because it's worthless to me at this point. Any buyers ? LOL.

Though many previously bundled applets now will ship separately to Windows 7, Windows Media Player remains part of the core OS. Windows 7 will ship with Windows Media Player 12, which includes some surprising new features.
