Enter Lively by Google, a new social networking application and 3-D chat platform designed to integrate easily into websites, web browsers and blogs --and then some. With Lively even novice users can create virtual worlds or join another's habitat in the form of an avatar. Like most Google technology, Lively is relatively easy to learn and more powerful than it appears at first blush. New Virtual World
I wouldn't say it is much of a virtual "world," but it does have many similar characteristics to one. If you are looking for an easy way to embed a chat into your website, Lively offers a simple way to do it.
However, in its first public release, it is only for Windows operating systems, hopefully it will be available to MAC/Unix releated systems soon!
The best way for it to improve is to have more users, share Lively screenshots, rooms, etc! If you want to help develop content for Lively, Google is also looking for more developers at www.lively.com/help/
