I use Gmail as my default E-mail program, so I wanted easy access on the desktop. So I dragged the little picture from the Url bar onto my desktop. When I double clicked it Firefox opened a new tab and gave me a blank page with this in the Url bar. file:///C:/Users/Tadd/Desktop/Gmail.url (My name is Tadd). It also said done in the bottom left hand corner. So I tried making a internet shortcut by right clicking, I got the same result. So for the hell of it I tried it in the quick launch bar. It had something different in the URL bar file:///C:/Users/Tadd/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/Internet%20Explorer/Quic...
With again a blank page. Can someone help?

P.S. If I didn;t make it clear before Firefox is my default browser.

default applications playing up
Whenever I install a new program, vista always wants to use the original default program. E.g. I have installed firefox and every time firefox loads it asks me whether I want to make it the default program. I always choose yes. Then I close it. The start menu internet has not been changed from internet explorer. I then open firefox again and it asks me the same message. This is true for many applications.

It is the same with Utorrent. I work a lot from home and the only way I manage to get my work done is using a .torrent file to transfer my work to other clients. This always asks me whether i want to make it the default application but I didnt think vista had a default application to use torrents!
Firefox and Remote Desktop poop
After many days trying to get Firefox pages to load I started using Remote Desktop to access my client servers and noticed things seem to hang when accessing anything outside the local network. Also my Smart FTP program hangs when trying to transfer files!!

I tested these issues on 2 new desktops with Vista installed and the same issues happen. The first issue seems to be with the Firefox web browser surfing sites. It loads half the page then hangs.

The second issue is with Remote Desktop. It works perfectly on a local network but when I try to connect to a remote server it loads about 1/3 of the desktop then hangs.
