I am looking to see if there's a setting somewhere or a small program that gives the functionality of what the title says. Basically on a make when you insert a flash disk or a CD it appears on your desktop as a drive and disappears when you disconnect it or take it out. Is there anything like this from Vista?

I have decided to upgrade my XP to Vista Premium.
Im awaiting the disc to arrive today hopefully.
I have restored my hard drive so that I have no rubbish on my computer at all.
So it is basically just Windows XP as it stands.
Does anyone have any tips I should do before I upgrade?
Should I update XP first or wont that matter?

Okay let's be clear, I'm not interested in pirating or breaking any licensing terms.
I have 2 PCs, a desktop and laptop, both currently running xp media centre. Purchased my laptop in January and I've submitted, but am still waiting for my vista express upgrade.
It was always my intention to upgrade the laptop first, since that's just an entertainment PC.
Anyway, I received a complementary copy of vista home premium upgrade from Microsoft today (long story basically I moaned that my desktop was purchased just before the express upgrade started, with a big dose of my disability/special equipment!).
