I recently updated my XP home to Vista Home Premium. I did use the upgrade advisor and the only thing recommended was that I upgrade my RAM (512) to 1 GB. Something that I plan on doing very soon.

From what I understand this video card is at least above average. But still, my vista does not load with the complete Aero theme, nor will it allow me to use the windows 3d Flip (Alt-tab) feature. When I go into the control panel and go to performance information, my graphics and gaming graphics both got scores of 1.9 and 1.0 respectively. Is it my video card or the lack of RAM that is making my computer not run these features and be "inferior" in the graphics department. I thought I had a good video card at least.

I am planning on purchasing a 22" 16:9 monitor which has a native resolution of 1680x1050. Now I have an nVidia GeForce 7600GT graphics card that supports it but I am stuck with using the crappy beta drivers with vista 64bit ver. I know in XP I can use that nView program and manually change to any resolution I want but when I am in vista I don't see anywhere that I can change this. In both nVidia control panel and the display settings in vista there is a maximum resolution of 1600x1200. Does anybody know how I could manually configure this in Vista before I purchase the monitor. Should I

My computer is custom built using a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3P motherboard, a Intel Core 2 CPU (2.13GHz) and a NVidia GeForce 7600 GT video card. Originally I decided on 2GB of RAM which registered as 2048MB in Vista's System panel. I then decided to double it. One more stick of 1GB registered as 3070MB in the System panel and the next 1GB raised the RAM to 3326MB in the System panel. Yes, an increase of only 256MB!!! The BIOS screen shows that I have 4193216K of RAM alright but Vista is only registering 3326MB. I have checked the memory modules and they are all identical. I have tried using only three with different combinations in different slots to try and prove one faulty.

I've tried reinstalling the driver, etc. No matter what I do, if vista reboots, it loses the mouse speed settings that I change in control panel. The registry settings are in HKCU\Control Panel\Mouse. When I change the settings in the control panel,...

anybody else get this error. Sometimes aero just gets disable on my system for now reason also when this happens no icons appear in the control panel so I can't manually fix it I have to do a system restore.

Not sure if this is a vista problem or nvidia driver problem.
