i am using windows vista home premium. my problem concerns internet connection sharing using the ad-hoc network. i successfully shared my internet connection through wireless network connection and created an ad-hoc network that is secured using a WEP key. One computer detects the network and inputs the WEP key of the network but the problem is that the connecting computer cannot acquire a network address. It is assigned "automatic private address" which is, as far as i know, is not the right ip for the connecting computer. the sharing computer is assignned an ip address of 192.168.0.1 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 which is the default setting for most networks. Why can't the connecting computer acquire an ip address that can access the sharing computer's internet. why is this so? and even though i set the ip, subnet mask, default gateway, and primary dns server address of the connecting computer, it still cannot access the sharing computer. with manual settings inputted in the connecting computer, i tried to ping the ip address 192.168.0.1, and still no response. need help here pls. tnx
