I am trying to load Vista onto a clean sata hardrive. it is a 74 gig raptor.my mobo is a asus a7n8xeshortly into the install vista begins to ask for drivers for a drive and shows a dialog box whereall available drives it found should be listed...

Not sure how to do this ...

I am in the process of moving motherboards around and in one instance I've dithched an old mobo with a new one that supports SATA drives.

I created a ghost image of the original IDE driving containing Vista Home Premium then imaged that on a new SATA drive. On install of the drive Vista requested the original CD for a Repair/Restart which I did without issue - on reboot however Vista gets about half way through the boot process and reboots.

Hi all my first topic on your great forum.I just bought Vista Home Premium,I curently have a dual boot configuration now but I have a 160 gig sata I want to put clean install on,Now my problem the first screen I get is to install raid sata drivers to a floppy ,I dont have a floppy drive(does anyone these days) I didnt install these drivers on my current setup.Anyway is there away around this or do I have to buy a floppy that I basiclly will only use once?.Thanks I hope this all makes sense

I have just recently installed Vista and WinXP in dual boot on my ASUS pc. Each OS has its own HD, both SATA. PATA is for file storage.

When I boot up in XP I can access all my HDs, both SATA and PATA. When I boot up in Vista I can access all my SATA drives, but the Maxtor PATA drive is not accessible. The PATA drive has the latest Microsoft driver.
Any ideas what could be causing this to only happen in Vista?
