Hi, i have got oem software, vista ultimate upgrade. I ran the compatibilty wizard a billion times, but still after upgrading im getting lots of BSOD. I presume that its my motherboard which is the problem, as the mainboard software (soltek hm) pops up at the start and says 'this os is not supported'.
So..... i havent activated vista yet, it says i have 2 days to activate. How can defer activating it until after i upgrade my motherboard? as i really dont want to get stuck having to call microsoft for 40 pounds a time to get new activation keys! And is there any way around needing a new activation code if i upgrade any hardware in the future?
I know it is oem software, but its not right to charge people if they upgrade their computers, even if it is the motherboard. Its not like someone could take my old motherboard and magically run MY copy of vista from it in a new machine! And surely the point of the activation is to prevent piracy. How does preventing someone from changing their own motherboard prevent piracy? There should definately be some support for people needing large hardware overhauls after installing vista, oem or not!
So yes, sorry to rant! but i would be really grateful if anyone could tell me how to stop windows from activating until i can change the motherboard, (if it is that which is the problem!) Thanks in advance,
Andrew
