Doing things as they come in is a risky approach to work. While smaller tasks may be completed quickly, big projects will keep getting pushed to one side.

Want to Work at Twitter?

Let me start off by noticing that Twitter has nearly completely solved its frequent downtime issues. I haven’t heard anyone complain about downtime in weeks, and I haven’t noticed any problems with the site myself.

So, now that they finally have that under control, the folks at Twitter are in need of fresh blood: according to their latest newsletter, they’re hiring. Forget about the looming recession and pretty much every other IT company laying off people; Twitter sees its future as “bright.”

Exhibit A: Online Video Ad Targeting Still Needs A Little Work

I’m not complaining, but some of the ads being paired with some of the content on Brightcove’s Syndication Marketplace may need some rethinking.

This lovely lady is doing a full-nude striptease (we’ve altered the image), along with an Office Depot advertisement promising “Free Delivery.” Which on second thought may be a brilliant idea.

Small Business Tip: How To Solicit A Customer Testimonial

Customer testimonials for your small business can be a valuable marketing tool ... if done the right way. But how do you get a customer testimonial that is meaningful?

I've found that politely asking long-term clients for feedback works best. When they let you know how pleased they are with the work, ask them if they would mind if you featured their comments on your website or in a brochure. I've yet to run into a client that said "no". Job Burnout

At some point in your career, you will experience burnout. Regardless of how much you like your job there will come a time when you just don't feel like doing it anymore. If you could choose between being sick enough to stay home (and not just lying about being sick) and going to work, you would actually choose to be sick. It would be far less aversive than facing your boss, your co-workers, your clients, and your desk.
