Windows Media Player 11 problem

Hello guys,

I just recently bought a new laptop, which has Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed. Like many others, I started to rip music from my CD collections to my new laptop (I rip it using Windows Media Player 11). Couple of days later I finished with my CD ripping, and now my library has around 500 songs in it. I had no problem until around 2-3 days ago. Just before I turned off my laptop, there was a Windows Update. It updates automatically before my laptop turned off. The next time I turn on my laptop, my whole library is gone. The song files are still there (under Administrator/Music), but its not in my library. I can play them on my playlist (click twice on any song), but thats it. I tried adding them again to my library by going to "Add to Library" and choosing the Music folder, but nothing happened. I also bought a new CD and tried to rip it, but Windows Media Player 11 does not recognize the CD (I mean, it sees my album as Unknown Album, even though its Norah Jones' newest album).. I tried "Find Album Info" and it shows all the informations of the album(Songs name, Album Art, etc), but when I click "Finish", it still shows Unknown Album and Track 1, Track 2 and so on.

Windows Media Player 11 and Vista

Hi
I am a VB6 developer and am using msdxm.ocx in my existing application to player video and audio files on Windows Media Player, I installed Vista Ultimate on a PC to test the application, it didn't play my Video files in the application, I checked the msdxm.ocx and it is only 4k, which the old version is about 844k in size. I could not delete or overwrite this file in the c:\windows\system32 folder. I then installed Windows Media Player on an XP box and had no problems the msdxm.ocx old version was there even after installing Windows Media Player 11. Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?

Okay so I do not always agree that new is always better.

I hate Windows Media Player 11, is there a way I can remove it or at least change to Media Player 10?
