I currently have a Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition computer that is Vista Capable. As a result I have a Microsoft Windows Vista Express Upgrade Disc, so my quesstion is that if I want to upgrade my current windows to Vista, and prior to that if I backup my Computer Setting/Files to a drive or something, will I be able to have to have the exact same programs/settings/files back in my Windows Vista after?

Okay let's be clear, I'm not interested in pirating or breaking any licensing terms.

I have 2 PCs, a desktop and laptop, both currently running xp media centre. Purchased my laptop in January and I've submitted, but am still waiting for my vista express upgrade.

It was always my intention to upgrade the laptop first, since that's just an entertainment PC.

Anyway, I received a complementary copy of vista home premium upgrade from Microsoft today (long story basically I moaned that my desktop was purchased just before the express upgrade started, with a big dose of my disability/special equipment!).

Received this email yesterday:

Dear Valued HP Customer:

Thank you for the recent order for your HP Windows Vista Express Upgrade Kit. Our records indicate that your order is complete and awaiting shipment.

The HP Express Upgrade to Vista software kits will begin shipping in early March for all completed orders placed before January 30, 2007. Orders placed after January 30, 2007 will ship within 4-6 weeks from the date the Proof of Purchase was processed.
