Vista VLC player and .avi

As Im sure it is with many people, the only way to go when playing those weird video files you download,VideoLan VLC player is the only way. After installing this on vista and trying to play an .avi file I found that it didnt work with default settings. Here is the simple fix for all those who run into the same:

Goto Settings->Preferences
Click the advanced options box (lower right)
Expand Video
Select Output Modules
Select Either OpenGL, Windows GDI, or DirectX video output
save and you should be all set

everytime i watch a video on vista, i run into problems. with windows media player 11 it gets at glitchy, like the cursor start blinking, like if it was using alot of CPU (havent checked how much, but yea). and then theres files i have that are image files of dvd's that i use VideoLAN to play (for some reason alcohol 120% cant mount them on a virtual drive) and with VLAN, ill get sound but no picture... the picture will come up later on. but wen i try to maximize it, it turns into a black screen.

any suggestions? ... im running a athlon xp 64 3700+, 1GB or RAM and im running the "e
