FROM: http://torley.com/our_future_trampolines.htmIt's a rare treat when I can casually saunter over to something amazing in Second Life and really enjoy it without being interrupted. I do love the spontaneity; sometimes I feel I have too little of it because so much of my day is scheduled and queued with "things to do, more things to do, and even more things to do". To feel like a child again? Priceless. This happened the other day, when Kim Anubis sent me an IM. As chance would have it, I wasn't busy working on something else inworld—I'd just finished—and Kim's just one of those people that, when she wants to show you something, you go see it. My mind goes back to late '04, when we used to frequent a lot of trivia games, like Mae Best's "Knot A Quiz". Kim's severely good at quizzes! So as I asked myself the question, "Am I going to go?" I answered it in quick succession: "YES!"What I came upon made me feel like a child again. As soon as I rezzed in, I saw Kim bouncing around, innocent smile on her face, and just such an ideal combo of flexiprim hair, acrobatic anime poses, and even a dragon pet. What a combination suite! Also present were Seifert Surface and DaVinci Doctorow, also pretty bouncy. That Sei, he's a smart, funny guy. I've long enjoyed the experiments he's worked on, including some with Art Laxness, and more recently, a certain crooked house.I saw odd shapes that Kim set up tumble around the landscape, roaming like AI sentinels—frittering and jittering across the landscape. It reminded me of Darwinia, only more interactive because I was being repeatedly bumped by them, jostled towards giant squares of a Jello-looking nature that Sei was setting up.After some initial confoundation on my part, I joined in and jump-JuMp-JUMPED!Some sorta high-falutin Cirque de SL with more ounce for the bounce, my poor doggy body kept ricocheting off the leappads! Hyperkinetic mad science, which led me to think, "What would Thomas Dolby think if he saw this?" I really don't know, but it inspired the title of this entry. This is one of those times where better than words or pictures, a video will tell the tale. Kim declared "Fraps! Fraps!" and how could I resist? In quick return, I exclaimed, "Oh I'll totally Frap this" and so I have. Raw footage captured live in Second Life, unedited aside from the bookends. Courtesy of YouTube...Thank you graciously for the wonderful time, Kim, Seifert, and DaVinci. I'm glad I came. One note: I noticed after making the video that I mispelled "Celsius". The region isn't public right now, but if you've got interest, at least you know who to contact. :-)
