AfriNIC, the African domain registry, has had to postpone its planned November meeting in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa due to disagreement over the future location of a .africa address zone. According to AfriNIC, the hosts, the Ethiopian Telecommunication Corporation, have cancelled the ninth meeting of the African address registry at short notice. The organisation has thus found itself forced to divert to Mauritius. The reason for the Ethiopian cancellation appears to be wrangling over the operation of the planned .africa top-level domain (TLD).

While ICANN has just published the new generic top-level domain Applicant Guidebook draft, the recently accepted .TEL Top Level Domain is in the starting blocks and will take off on the 3rd of December.

The new communications’ focused TLD .TEL has become a major topic of interest in the past months with the pre-registrations opening at eurodns.com and the growing enthusiasm it engenders.

Today at SYSTEMS 08, Telnic Limited, the Registry Operator for the new .tel Top Level Domain (TLD) announced that one hundred ICANN-accredited registrars had signed an agreement to sell .tel domain names well in advance of its launch.

The one hundredth registrar to sign was Network Solutions, which ranks third largest in the world with the number of domains under management. The first registrar to sign up to distribute .tel was European domain specialist EuroDNS.

Expect new TLD applications for .xxx, but expect challenges too.

Poor .xxx. The top level domain that never was to be. On again, off again.

With the new top level domain process getting into high gear and ICANN expecting 500 applications, you can be assured that some of them will be for .xxx, .sex, or .porn.

But will they be approved? The morality police are on the prowl.

Has anyone used any HDMI tv with Vista? I am having problem with my TV it doesn show all the desktop and i dont know how to fix it because the tv doesnt have settings for manual screen adjustment.

I am using Telefunken HDMI LCDTV 32 inches, if you could help me set it up for Vista Ultimate it would be so kind of you and thanks in advance. I cant find the drivers for this tv on the net or on the manufactor's site.
