Superfetch and disk activity at start up
Does any one know why superfetch causes a lot of disk activities at start up? (30+ seconds on my 7200rpm hard disk)
I watched file accesses with procmon and it seems "svchost.exe -k LocalSystemNetworkRestricted" scans every file under c:\windows at vista start up and thus causes the excessive disk activity
Now I've disabled superfetch and readyboost and no longer have the sympton. I'm just curious why superfetch has to do this intolerable thing at start up. Can't it cache information rather than scan at every boot?
