Why wouldnt my hard drive not be recognized during POST. It is recognized in BIOS.
The drive is sata and will only boot at POST only when a Windows Vista or XP install disk is in the cd drive.

I also have huge problems with sata controller. i have vista ultimate on 64 bits. while installing, it doesn't ask me for aditional drivers how the xp used to do. it just installs from head to tows. but after, I don't have drivers for sata...

Here's the deal, I have a SATA drive with Vista on it (partitioned into 2 volumes, 20 gigs for Vista on drive C and 270 gigs for everything else). I followed the instructions up to the part where you shrink the drive. Now, I have 3 drives: 100-something gigs unformatted, 100 gigs of main stuff on DRIVE C, and WINDOWS on drive D!
