NO, in the EULA it says you may install the software on 1 computer. If you transfer the license to another computer, you must uninstall the OS from the original computer.

Should I Anytime Upgrade or buy OEM?

Sun, 2007-02-18 08:47 - Topics:

Hi, I very recently bought a new Dell PC, which came with Vista Home Basic edition (32 bit). I've quickly realised that I want the Ultimate edition!

I don't have the money to buy the retail version of Windows Vista Ultimate, so should I:

1) Buy the OEM 32 bit version of Windows Vista Ultimate (about 120GBP with delivery from scan.co.uk)
2) Use Anytime Upgrade to upgrade my Home Basic to Ultimate (about 138GBP using Sony as the retailer)

Obviously looking at those prices, it would seem that buying the OEM version of Ultimate would be the best choice.

Can't copy across network

Thu, 2007-02-08 05:18 - Topics:

I cannot successfully copy files from my laptop to my media centre PC (HTPC) across the wireless network.

Both machines are running fresh installs of Vista Home Premium (retail version, not beta).
Network works fine on both PCs, including Internet access and both can 'see' shared folders on each other.

The problem comes when I try to copy files from the laptop to the HTPC (and vice versa). It seems to work fine if I log into the HTPC and copy a file FROM the laptop...this is not what I want - I want to 'send' a file from the laptop to the HTPC. This worked perfectly with XP on the HTPC and Vista on the laptop.

x86 and x64 interchangeable?

If I get the Home Premium retail version and send for the x64 version can I use both of them interchangeably? Granted that they would be used on the same machine only one at a time? Or would I have to buy another license to use both? Thanks.

Ok, I heard that the only hardware that is not allowed to be chaged was the mother board. Is this true?Or will the OEM be invalid if you change the memory or the hard drive for example.
