Vista RC1 installed on C:\ drive, want to reinstall XP on new D:\ drive

Hi - can someone help please.......

I had XP Pro installed on my C:\ drive, and I replaced it with RC1 of Vitsa, doing a clean install.

I've been given a formatted hard disk, connected up as my D:\ drive, and I'd like to reinstall XP Pro onto it, and be able to choose which OS I boot into.

However, when I insert the XP installation disk, I get the initial options menu, but when I select 'Install XP Professional', nothing at all happens.

If I swap the hard drives around, so that the PC boots into the new formatted drive, I get a message when booting up saying 'OS not found', and can get no further. This happens whether or not I boot up with the XP Installation disc in the drive.

Please Help!!! Dual boot problem. Vista/XP

Hi,

I got a big problem. I have two hard disks, we will call A and B. I had XP on disk A which started having some problems (running slow) so I decided to install Vista on disk B. Everything was installed and running great with a dual boot configuration. But I hade some programs that would not work with Vista (Nero) and XP wasn’t working to well. So I decided to format disk A and reinstall XP. After it was installed I figured I would have to edit the Boot.ini to set up the dual boot again. But it’s not working, I read Vista doesn’t use the boot.ini any more and now I can’t get it to boot into Vista. I would hate to have to spend 8 hours reinstalling and customizing Vista again. If anyone has a solution it is very much appreciated.

Living With Vista

Well it's been about a week now since my clean install and the only real problems I've had are Software and Hardware compatability. What a coup for the industry, choosing not to support slightly older versions of soft/hardware hoping that we all go out and upgrade to new versions. I've been very disappointed with some of the well known names but that's the name of the game I suppose, make hay while the sun shines. Fortunately I'm running XPpro on another hard drive and I can see a longer transition time for me while I can still use the non Vista supported soft/hardware so if your bios gives you a boot option during the POST and prefferably.

As far as I can tell ...no P2P programs will work on Vista. I've noticed on other forums that alot of people are having the same problems. The P2P such as Limewire will not connect and then Vista shuts off your ethernet connections. You have to reset the connection or reboot. Anyone else having this problem? I'm getting ready to trash Vista and reinstall XP!

Hello again! While trying to reinstall over a system failure on Windows XP Pro, I've tried to use the sticker on the bottom of my laptop to reinstall Windows XP, but it keeps rejecting my key! After several attempts, it keeps rejecting that sticker...
