Retrieving previous versions of files in VISTA

Mon, 2007-04-16 08:54 - Topics:

I had read that a new feature in VISTA is the ability to retrieve previous versions of files. For example, if I update and save a Word doc a few times, I read that VISTA has a feature which would enable the user to restore a previously saved version of the file.

Does this feature exist? I cannot figure out how to use it if it does. I had read to simply right-click on the file and select "restore previous version", but I have no such option for any of the files I tested.

Can someone advise on this?

Alternative for Netmeeting

Thu, 2007-03-29 04:42 - Topics:

We all know that Vista is not supporting Microsoft Netmeeting, this is bad news for our company, since it was used to connect remotely to users computers to solve basic computer problems, those kind of problems that normally floods help desks.

The advantages of Microsoft Netmeeting as remote was more than using 3rd party software for our company.

The problem is that Vista don't have Microsoft Netmeeting. Loading the previous versions does not work since it does not support remote desktop sharing.

We need something that support all versions of Microsoft Windows, Server and Workstation.

Headset feedback problem

I'm sure people have experienced this in previous versions of Windows, you talk into your headset microphone and can hear your own voice, drives me crazy. In Windows XP, I was able to go into the sound volume mixer and turn the microphone volume down, which made it possible for silencing my voice from myself yet being able to have others hear me. However I can't find anything within Vista to do such a thing. Does anyone know of any ways in which I can mute myself from myself?

E740 PDA pocketPC 2002

I have a Toshiba e740 PDA that runs PocketPC2002 - how can I sync this in Vista? In fact, I guess syncing it isn't quite as important as restoring it. Recently my PDA's battery took a dump and therefore all my contents did too... so now I need to either A) reinstall all the programs (somehow) or cool.gif restore a backup I have... (again - somehow)...

Activesync no longer works in Vista - if you try to install it, it tells you "Sorry you can't install that on this operating system" and redirects you to Windows Mobile, which I have (version 6 - latest) however, it does not connect to my PDA. Device manager see's the e740 and the drivers are installed for it - shows up under "Mobile Devices" tree and has the specific title of "TOSHIBA Pocket PC e740"... I believe in previous versions of Vista, I could at least see the e740 from within "My Computer" but even that doesn't work now. And besides, getting it to the point of seeing it in "My Computer" is useless as I want to restore a backup created by ActiveSync, OR have another way to actually install programs on it still....
