I know this has been asked before, but after searching all over the net, and here, I can't find a clear answer.
I just bought a new computer. It came preloaded with Windows Vista. I don't want Vista, I much prefer XP for, for now at least. I tried to install Windows XP. I can make it all the way to the Install screen and it starts to load my drivers however the percentage bar freezes at 34% complete. I left it sit for 2 hours hoping it would pick up, but to no avail. I ran across a tip somewhere saying to load DOS and search for inf files etc etc but even that didn't work.
I'm at a total lose here.
I have a 9800 pro and a 9550. The 9550 works great with Vista. Anyone know if the 9800 would work better?
In XP the 9800 would not play games right and I couldn't get the settings right. After a few minutes it would create triangles of color all over the screen.

Right now I have XP (C:\) and Vista (D:\) installed, with dual-booting. I use XP to play games like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Vista to do everything else. Will games like this perform at the same level (as in speed) in Vista? I'm about to format and reinstall Vista; if games run just as well in Vista, then I'll format XP as well and merge the two partitions.
