System freeze because of msconfig

Fri, 2007-04-20 10:41 - Topics:

Hi,

I have installed Vista Home Premium then I installed some programs that are
compatible with Vista. But some of that programs I installed had some startup
helper which I don't need. So I deactivated them with the help of msconfig.
And didn't restart but kept working with the new system. When I was finished
with my session I restarted.
Now the problem: When I restart and log in with my user account, I see a
unknown icon in the system tray, that tells my that some software was
prevented from starting. And the system freezes. I could only turn the
Computer off by pressing the power button for some time.

Fix Vista's annoyances

Ok one of the first things I did after getting my HP dv9210us was to run msconfig and get rid of all the un-needed crap that would start on boot up. Only now I get an annoying bubble that pops up every 5 minutes saying "Windows has blocked some programs from starting" or something to that effect. Is there anyway to keep that bubble from popping up all the time?

Tried the new Boot Screen

I tried the new cooler (is that a word?) boot up screen. I did the .bak the changing of the file to users full, admin full, then msconfig check the boot thing (the check box vernacular escapes me now) but I followed it well I thought. Apparently not well enough though... Now when it boots it's got this ugly watercolor thing going on and if I uncheck the boot thing then it's all black. Have I created a special feature? in other words just leave it?

Thanks

Linux guy.

Manage Vista Startup Items

;) Hi all. I'm wondering how others are managing their Vista startup programs. I know there's msconfig, but this method has given my friends an issue with "Windows blocked startup programs" upon every reboot. I've read posts about using...
