Microsoft to push fix for patch trouble

Microsoft on Tuesday plans to push out a fix to repair problems caused by last week's emergency cursor flaw patch.

The fix will be delivered as a "high priority" update alongside Microsoft's regular security updates, Christopher Budd, a Microsoft security staffer wrote on a corporate blog on Friday.

Microsoft has identified three additional applications that conflict with last week's "critical" MS07-017 security update.

Prior to the Microsoft patch released on Tuesday, the ANI cursor flaw put users of most supported versions of Windows and Windows Server, including Windows Vista, at risk of attackers taking control of their system. However, users running Windows Vista and Internet Explorer 7 in protect mode should be safe from the ANI exploit, even on unpatched systems.
