Don't ask... but I've managed to compress the partition of my HD with my Vista install on (by checking the little box on the HD properties in Vista). So now whenever I try and boot up I get an error message saying
"BOOTMGR Compressed, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"

I've already tried the stuff a google search brings up ie:

Win Vista DVD > Command Prompt>
C:
expand bootmgr temp
attrib bootmgr -s -r -h
del bootmgr
ren temp bootmgr
attrib bootmgr -a +s +r +h

But I still get the error after i've done that. I've tried doing that for every archived file in the C: root directory and that still doesn't help. I've downloaded Hirens Boot CD and tried a load of tools on there (including zeroing my MBR and then getting windows vista to fix it with its auto-repair feature) and i still get the same message!

Ok I have a HP dv9210us and an external western digital 160GB hard drive. I was installing linux onto the drive and I some how mistakenly put the lilo boot loader onto sda (my internal) instead of sdb (my external). So now when I boot up to windows I need to have my external pluged in just to boot to windows on my internal. Anyway to make it simple how do I go about fixing my MBR on the drive. No I dont have any CDs. HP decided as many other OEMs to not ship CDs anymore so all I have is a partition on my HD that they put there.

Formatted a disk GPT in Vista. I would like to reformat it for use with XP. XP does not seem to be able to format it.

Vista is currently installed on my slave drive, but the MBR/Vista Bootloader is on the master drive (which has Windows XP on it). I wanna get rid of XP and now put Vista on my master drive. I understand Vista needs its MBR/Vista Bootloader to boot...

I installed vista and now all it wants to do is boot Vista. If I load up my SP2 CD it'll see XP but if I try to fix the MBR vista just comes back, no option for booting XP. What do I do? I can't format the Vista drive through Ubuntu (I know it's...
