Economical outdoor lighting used to be a pretty hard thing to accomplish. Copper wiring is not inexpensive and outdoor lighting of the traditional type use many feet or meters of cabling. Thanks to the search for alternative energy answers a lot of development has been done on solar panels. For a number of years the technology has existed that allows a relatively small solar panel that is capable of powering a light source for 8 hours or even more. This technological advance also applies to outdoor security lighting and has lowered pricing on those type units significantly.
