Hey guys, I was following this guide: http://apcmag.com/5023/dual_booting_xp_with_vista

Here's the deal, I have a SATA drive with Vista on it (partitioned into 2 volumes, 20 gigs for Vista on drive C and 270 gigs for everything else). I followed the instructions up to the part where you shrink the drive. Now, I have 3 drives: 100-something gigs unformatted, 100 gigs of main stuff on DRIVE C, and WINDOWS on drive D! I want to dual boot XP, but the main priority here is NOT LOSING THE STUFF that is now on drive C (it's a LOT of stuff). Now Windows won't start! I want to:

Joining Two Partitions On HD

Sun, 2007-03-18 16:44 - Topics:

Hey all, just thinking how would I join the two separate partitions that I created to install vista? My dell came preinstalled with xp media center edition. I partitioned it to install a vista trial, and since I'll be getting a OEM of home premium this month I want to install vista on the whole HD deleting everything including xp (250gb hd) I used Gparted and followed these instructions (http://apcmag.com/5023/dual_booting_xp_with_vista), by using Gparted do I delete all the partitions but leave C:\ that has vista installed, and all the space that there is from the deleted partitions will transfer to C:\, am I getting this right? or is there a better or an easier tool perhaps. btw I noticed when I was partitioning that there were like 3-4 partitions that were like 10-20mb, maybe dell recovery or something? Is there any harm in deleting them, thats if I'm supposed to..
